My favorite site is OkCupid, and my profile is here. It's a cool site, with the best matching function I've seen, and a good search function as well.

I use to have a problem getting suitable matches - I'm interested in very intelligent women, who don't try to fit the standard expectations of society. Yet I kept getting contacts from women, mostly from particular countries (the Philippines and Russia), and mostly looking for a family-minded man with a stable income, and highlighting their homemaking abilities. Didn't they read my profile??? I don't care about country or skin color, but I'm not looking for a homemaker, and, as I'll be leaving Australia for the long term, I'm hardly a ticket to a visa.
But now I've made my profile much more specific about what I want - I found ways of expressing the sort of woman I find interesting. I now get only the occasional contact, but those are generally quite interesting. Big improvement.

It's not really clear to me what the Personals Wikia is going to be... about dating or will it be an actual dating site? It could work well if there's some way of searching for matches to multiple categories, as well as text. Gender & age could be dealt with as categories. Perhaps birth year, e.g. Category:Born 1970 would be an effective way of dealing with age.
Userboxes would be an easy way for people to add themselves to categories, as well as having an easy to read profile.
If there's no easier way to search for a certain age range, perhaps we could search by parent category, e.g. Category:Born:1970's then that would include all people 27 to 36.
For example, I would like to meet anyone who belonged to these hypothetical categories:
- Category:Women
- Category:Lang:2 or more
- Category:Yoga
- Category:Music:Indian
- Category:Religion:Naturalistic worldview
